GRETA's fall 2023 haul out.

I expect all boat owners plan for a one or two week haul out. As been my experience over many boats, this is usually unreasonably optimistic. GRETA's 2023 haul out lasted a little over six weeks. Fortunately, we were hauled out at Port Townsend's Boat Haven and the work was being performed at Haven Boatworks. Our timing was good this year as GRETA was located close to the PT Wooden Boat Festival' shuttle bus pick-up/drop-off location. On Festival days there was a steady flow of wooden boat enthusiasts passing by. The most entertaining question I recall was "what's the ratio of maintenance to use?"
I almost always enjoy my time spent around the PT boatyard. Back in 2021 we had our 1971 C&C 43 sailboat hauled out in PT for six months as we painted the deck, topsides, bottom (after stripping down to the first epoxy barrier

coat) and effecting repairs to the transom where 40 years of being raced hard and put away wet was showing.
In the very capable hands a Haven Boatworks GRETA received, on top of the usual painting and maintenance, two new planks on the starboard bow, refastened 6

hood ends on each side of the bow, two new planks on the transom, 20 feet of new "bug shoe", updated exhaust hose connections, renewed rudder post(s) flax packing, and the swim step reconditioned while it was off the boat.
I performed some maintenance on the bronze tapered seacocks which includes using a grit lapping compound and reassembling with new seacock grease.
There were many smaller tasks completed, many hours with a shop vac cleaning out hard to reach areas of the bilge as access became possible along with continued exploration of those bilge and equipment areas not normally exposed.
